Since its inception, Encore has focused primarily on spinning and the growing indoor cycling market, which has found millions of enthusiastic followers worldwide. Best known for operating one of the largest spinning facilities in Los Angeles, Encore Fitness was rated "Best Spinning Gym" twice in a row.

Encore Fitness secured its seed round of funding from private investors in early 2003 and received its first institutional round of financing in July 2004 from Funk Ventures Capital Partners. The company was acquired in a management buy-out transaction in December 2005.
