Founded by Funk Ventures CEO and Chairman
Andy
J. Funk in 1998,
Helping.org (now NetworkForGood) was the very first company
to introduce online charity to the world.
Helping.org allowed anybody to safely and conveniently donate money to their
favorite charity or fund-raiser across the United States. The company set the
standard for charitable giving over the Internet just months after its launch.
After seeing the Internet produce multi-millionaires overnight, Helping.org's
mission was to solely use the advancement of technology to provide help to those
in need.
Helping.org's success lead to its 1999 acquisition by
America Online.
After the terrorist attacks of September 11th, Helping.org became the most visited
charity website worldwide with online donations for the victims of the tragedy exceeding
tens of millions of dollars within just a few months. Now operating as Network
for Good, the company remains the world leader in online charitable giving.
